The Night Owl

a short text, by Sylvie

I am not an early bird like Cathy. I don’t get up at cockcrow, except in exceptional circumstances: on holidays or making a trip or a journey.

I don’t want to beat around the bush.

But, at night, everything is also peaceful and silent, and I feel more quiet after a busy day than before a day to come. You can even hear the owl!

You can’t have the best of both worlds.
I feel as fit as a fiddle even when I keep awake late in the night.

Of course, I am not like Paul, dancing, drinking and smoking tobacco and hashish. I am not at sea every morning.

I do admit that it isn’t always a good thing to burn the midnight oil.
I should meet Paul’s grandparents to get some advice.

It should be the best thing since sliced bread!
But for me, I’m afraid it would bite off more than I can chew.
